Congrats Drs’. Vine & Ghosh! 2024-2025 Cooperation, Collaboration and Teamwork Award

Dr. Donna Vine & Dr. Mahua Ghosh are the recipients of the 2024-2025 Department of Medicine Cooperation, Collaboration and Teamwork Award for their Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Clinical and Patient Pathway, Provincial Pathway Unit, AHS.

This award recognizes groups who have been successful in creating environments where the
professional characteristics of cooperation, collaboration and teamwork are effective for teaching,
research, and/or patient care and are visible to others, thus representing operational role models in the academic environment and/or the larger community.

“The adjudication committee was quite impressed with your nomination package and here is our summary
on your package:

Leadership from Drs. Ghosh and Vine was noted as visionary, fostering collaboration, innovation, and
mutual respect throughout the process. This team demonstrated true inclusivity and respect, ensuring all
voices were heard, particularly those of patient partners, who played a central role in shaping the pathway.
The project led to the creation of two accessible, evidence-based care pathways—one for patients and
another for primary care providers—available on MyHealth.Alberta.ca. The pathway is based on the 2023
International PCOS Guidelines, tailored to local needs and contexts in Alberta.

It addresses the chronic and complex nature of PCOS, supporting diagnosis, management, and referrals
across various life stages. The pathway has already improved clinical care, access to information, and
patient engagement, with uptake extending beyond Alberta. Feedback from both physicians and patients
underscores the tool’s practical value, educational benefit, and potential for broader implementation.”
